Honkai: Star Rail is a turn-based combat fantasy RPG game dedicated to character progression and development. Players familiar with this game know just how important character ascension is.

However, because of so many different rank levels, including Trailblaze levels, Equilibrium levels, and character levels, things can be very confusing for novices. What is Character Ascension in Honkai: Star Rail

Ascension allows a character to upgrade its level past the basal level cap, thus improving its combat skills and strength. After reaching a particular level, a character reaches its level cap in the sport. At this point, the sport introduces the choice to ascend the smoothness to further boost the level.

There are six amounts of ascension in Honkai: Star Rail. The first level opens up at the Character Level 20, meaning players will need to ascend their character after it reaches Level 20 to advance beyond that. The next four ascensions come in the interval of 10 levels each, and also the last ascension requires a character to level 80.

How to Ascend Characters in Honkai: Star Rail

Before ascending a character to a particular Ascension level, players have to fulfill the following criteria:

Reach the utmost character level possible before the ascension

Reach the necessary Equilibrium level

Reach the necessary Trailblaze level to unlock the equilibrium trials

For example, for that first ascension, a character does not just need to reach level 20 first but additionally, Trailblaze 15, which, unlocks the Equilibrium Trials. Passing those trials is required to acquire Equilibrium level 1, which also is a prerequisite for that first Ascension.

Honkai: Star Rail only requires in-game items, like Credits and Ascension Materials, to ascend the characters. Ascension Materials, for example, Void Cast Iron, Storm Eye, Horn of Snow, etc., will vary for different characters.
