Well I believe that you should always train with slayer, it shouldn't take too long to receive 70 in all; maybe a few days depending on the length of time you perform each day. A fantastic set-up for slayer which is fairly cheap is to use - Slayer Helm or Neitznot (sp?)

Bear in mind that is simply a suggestion for equipment, you always have the option to change things up. By way of example, you can swap out your defender for an Obsidian shield should you feel as though you need the extra defensive boost, and you may always use dragon plateleg's if you do not need to be repairing your barrow's armor since it degrades in combat.

Also, if you do not have the buy rs gold paypal quest requirements for the helms, then DO THEM. If you plan to do any slaying whatsoever you ought to perform the Smoking Kills quest as soon as you can. Don't be afraid to try different things and see what works for you.
