The scam hijacks Facebook accounts, spams messages on the user's behalf and tags numerous other Facebook users to spread the scam.

The spam post has appeared on numerous Facebook pages and in comments and reads: "Ray-Ban glasses! 80% discount! Only one day! Be sure not to miss it!" with a link to www.raystore-uk.eu.

Users who spot any spam posts on Facebook are advised to avoid clicking on any links, report the post and advise the person who the post came from that their account may have been hacked.
1. Change your Facebook password
This is found under your settings and you will need to ensure you have logged out of every device when prompted. This will prevent unauthorised access to your account.

2. Review your account activity
Check your login history for suspicious logins, run a review of recent posts and check your activity log for anything unusual. Delete any posts, photos, groups, pages or events that you did not create.
3. Remove suspicious Facebook apps
Go to Settings then click Apps and remove any applications you are suspicious of. It is common for rogue apps to be used to generate these spam messages without your consent.
4. Malware
If you think your computer has been affected by malware you will need to download and install a reputable anti-malware software. Once installed run the programme to scan for malicious files and block spam.
