MASH is a serious type of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease where too much fat builds up in the liver and causes swelling and irritation.

About 5% of adults in the U.S. have MASH, and many don’t even know they have it. If not treated, it can lead to serious liver damage, like scarring (cirrhosis). MASH also raises the chances of getting diabetes and heart disease.
